Privacy policy
Short version: your health records stay on your iPhone and in your own iCloud account. We don't sell data, show ads, or use tracking or analytics SDKs.
This policy covers the Crapology app for iPhone and Apple Watch and the crapology.app website, provided by BillyGoat Labs LLC ("we", "us").
What stays on your device
Everything you log, including bowel movements, food, medications, symptoms, photos, notes, reports and the patterns the app finds, is stored on your iPhone, encrypted by iOS. If iCloud sync is turned on, it's also stored in your private iCloud database, which only you can access. We can't see it.
Data the app reads from Apple Health is used only on your device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else, and never used for advertising.
What reaches our server
Our server exists for a few jobs and stores no health records:
- AI drafts. When you ask for analysis, the photo and any note you add are sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards them to an AI provider and returns a draft. We don't store the photo or the result. Location and camera details are removed from photos before they leave your phone. You can turn AI analysis off in Settings.
- Pollen levels. If pollen tracking is on, your approximate location (rounded to about 1 km) is sent so we can look up local pollen counts. It isn't stored. You can turn this off in Settings.
- Subscription check. To confirm an active subscription, the app sends the receipt Apple signs for your purchase. It identifies the subscription, not you. We don't receive your name, email address or Apple ID.
Like any web service, our hosting provider (Amazon Web Services) briefly keeps standard request logs, such as time, response code and IP address, for security and troubleshooting. We keep operational logs for up to 30 days. They don't contain your photos or health records.
AI providers
AI drafts are produced by a third-party AI provider, currently xAI or Anthropic. Photos are processed under the provider's API terms. The provider doesn't use API data to train its models, but may keep it for a limited time for abuse and safety monitoring. Each request is tied to our account with the provider, not to you.
Payments
Apple processes all purchases. We never see your payment details.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no advertising or analytics SDKs.
- No selling, renting or sharing of your data with data brokers.
- No accounts, email sign-up or tracking across apps or websites.
This website
crapology.app uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts. If you email us, we use your message only to reply to you and fix problems.
Your choices
- Turn off AI analysis and pollen tracking in Settings.
- Change Apple Health access in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
- Export all of your data at any time as an encrypted backup (Settings → Backup & Restore).
- Delete your data by deleting the app, and its iCloud data in iPhone Settings → [your name] → iCloud.
Children
Crapology isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Not medical advice
Crapology is a wellness and tracking tool. It doesn't diagnose, treat or prevent any condition.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. For material changes, we'll tell you in the app.
